Due to several reasons, you can have itchy scalp. It could be seasonal or permanent problem depending upon its cause. The most corrupt causes that make your scalp itchy are the dandruff, lice, dryness and atmospheric factors. Itchy scalp should be controlled as soon as possible because the dandruff and lice fall off as a result of continued scratches could transfer from one person to the next.
Oatmeal will give you relief from itchiness and also make your scalp smooth. Just soak a half cup of oatmeal in water for 20 minutes. Mix it well and add 5 drops of each lavender and rosemary oil each. Mix it well again and apply on your scalp leaving for 20 minutes. Then wash with mild shampoo
Tea tree oil is anti-fungal and peppermint oil has cooling effect. Both these oils could help in treating itchy scalp leaving it cool and infection free. Add few drops of each tea tree and peppermint oil to a cup of water. Mix it well and apply on your scalp after shampooing. Leave for half and hour and then wash. If you find it sticky, then you can shampoo again with mild shampoo.
Neem can be used for itchy scalp in two ways. One through neem leaves and second through neem oil.
Apple cider vinegar is also used as a final rinse for this problem. Add 3 tbsp of vinegar to a cup of warm water. Mix and apply after shampoo. Either you can leave it for the whole day or wash after half an hour. It will give shining to your hair too.
In a similar way to apple cider vinegar, lime juice can also be used as a final rinse. Take fresh lime juice and mix with warm water. Apply it after shampoo and wash off after 30 minutes. It will cure dandruff, lice and itchy scalp very effectively.
Along with these home remedies, you must also take preventions steps. Avoid going under the sun. When you have to, cover your head. Minimize the use of styling products and limit the use of hair care product full of harsh chemicals. Follow all these steps and you will have a healthy and itchiness free scalp.
